About Us
Community Board 7’s Waterfront Festival began in 1998 in an effort to reconnect the upland, residential community to its historic waterfront. Brooklyn Army Terminal Pier 4 was rebuilt that year and represented the only point of public access to the waterfront and the board was determined to ensure that local people were aware of this amenity and took advantage of being a waterfront community.
Over the years the festival has grown into a multicultural showpiece for the local community, highlighting the community’s great cultural diversity. Thousands now attend the annual event to enjoy music and art, gain awareness of community issues, learn more about city services, take a cruise, get health screenings or just enjoy a day on the waterfront with their friends and neighbors.
